Meet Nina
Nina Sciré is a recent alum of the University of Michigan, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in English. She has been studying dance for 15 years, and is eager to begin a career in the professional dance and arts industries. During her time in the Department of Dance at UM, she performed in works as part of various BFA Capstone Concerts as well as the annual Power Center concerts. She has been able to study under Judy Rice, Shannon Gillen, Jillian Hopper, Claire Croft, Charli Brissey, and Amy West. Nina has danced and produced several film projects as well, including choreographing group pieces for Cadence Dance Company on campus. She also served as a production manager for Arts in Color, a student-run organization that supports efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Nina enjoys practicing yoga and pilates to remain grounded and attentive of her body in space.
Now, as a performer and choreographer, Nina is drawn to work that explores the human connection and is curious about the links between dance and other art forms, especially paintings, poetry, and film. Nina's work encompasses technical aspects and detail-oriented dynamic movement, and finds music to be critical in her creative process. Her work has given her the opportunity to continuously learn and grow, find agency in her own creative expression, and stretch herself to generate authenticity in her art.
